Job Title: Early Childhood Aide – Part Time  

Reports to: EC Director and Head of School

Start date: Immediately 

Job Description: 

The Honolulu Waldorf School is seeking a dedicated Early Childhood Classroom Aide to support our Preschool Early Childhood Program. We are looking for someone who is confident working alongside a Lead Teacher and Assistant Teacher with a group of children ages 2–4 in an attentive, caring, and supportive manner.

Key responsibilities include assisting the Lead and Assistant Teachers throughout the day with classroom activities, supervising and caring for children, and helping maintain a clean, calm, friendly, and safe learning environment. The ideal candidate is comfortable changing diapers and assisting with potty training, and is willing to actively support the daily rhythms of the classroom.

Teamwork, collaboration, and a positive, ready-to-help attitude are essential for success in this role. An interest in learning about Waldorf education practices and the ability to engage with children in a way that aligns with the Waldorf approach are highly valued.

Our early childhood program follows a play-based curriculum that emphasizes singing, movement, storytelling, time in nature, and imaginative and constructive play. We believe these experiences are essential to an age-appropriate education that supports the healthy development of the whole child.

Hours:  Mondays, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday 8:30-1pm.  Thursdays, 8:30-2:15pm. There are also opportunities to pick up more hours through subbing in the afternoons and to continue working into our summer fun program. 

Pay: Sliding scale of $20-$24 per hour, depending on education and experience. The aide position is an hourly position, and staff are paid only when school is in session. 

Essential Qualifications:

  • Experience working with young children in a school or childcare environment is preferred, and we are also willing to teach the right person who shows a sincere interest in the work. 
  • TB Test and Background Check (required)
  • United States work authorization (required)
  • A background in Early Childhood Education or Child Development is preferred, and we are also willing to teach the right person who shows a sincere interest in the work.
