ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT MISSION STATEMENT

The Honolulu Waldorf School athletics program provides a healthy balance of love of learning, academic rigor, and athletics by implementing a holistic approach to sports. We promote self-discipline and cultivate a positive athletic experience that provides opportunities to compete without losing sight of the educational values of sportsmanship, determination, and respect for self and others.

SPORTS AT WALDORF

The Honolulu Waldorf School Athletic Department is proud to offer an extensive variety of sports for our students in grades 7, 8, and above. We are a member of the Interscholastic League of Honolulu (ILH), which consists of 25 independent schools across the island of Oahu. There is something offered for every student to reach his or her personal potential enrichment in their experience at our school.

Whether competing as a Waldorf team, a combined team with other ILH schools, or a Pac-5 team, students will create friendships that last a lifetime. Through their participation in sports, students learn important team building skills and increase personal fitness, preparing them for a healthy adulthood.

Please be sure you have turned in your (3) required forms: athletic participation form, athletic physical examination form and the middle school and or high school sports release form.  These forms are located on the “Forms” section of the HWS website.  These forms are required yearly. Please turn in completed forms to the school office.

Be sure to email the athletic director which sport your child will be participating in for the school year. By informing the athletic director of the sport interest, you will be emailed the tryout information and the student will be cleared to participate prior to the tryout and practices. All students must be cleared to participate in ANY of the ILH PAC-5 sports. If you attend a practice without the knowledge of the HWS athletic director, the child will not be allowed to practice and tryout. This clearance includes the HWS athletic director informing the ILH Pac-5 office and coaches as well as possibly performing a concussion test. The concussion test is needed for certain grades and sports.
