Humza Malik Scholarship Fund

Humza Malik was a student at the Honolulu Waldorf School from 2006-2010. He joined Mr. William Gentner’s Grade 3 class mid-year where he felt welcomed and vested in the school. Waldorf shaped his life, and he made so many wonderful friends during his time at the school. Even after Humza moved to Chicago in 2010, he always kept in touch with his Waldorf friends.

Humza finished off school in the Chicago suburbs and completed an associate degree. He was planning to attend Washington State University in the fall of 2020, with the intention of pursing a degree in Business and Finance.

Humza had varied interests. Humza enjoyed team sports and was a member of the school’s wrestling and swimming team. He had a passion for cars and strategy games, writing, and art. He was also interested in music and recently discovered Pink Floyd much to the surprise of his father. He had also found a new movie he was passionate about, 2001: A Space Odyssey. It seems his tastes had matured from the early days of SpongeBob SquarePants.

Humza passed away May 28, 2020, and from then until now, the one constant pillar of strength for Humza and his family has been their former community from Hawaii, and more specifically the Honolulu Waldorf School.

To honor and remember Humza’s life, the Malik family has established a scholarship fund. It is their wish that the scholarship allows more students to transfer to Honolulu Waldorf School and join the loving and nurturing community that made such a great impact on Humza’s life.

We humbly invite others to honor Humza’s memory by contributing directly to this scholarship fund. The fund will provide two awards per year, allowing late-start students to attend the Honolulu Waldorf School, just as Humza did in 2006.
